The Mariakerk in Krewerd was built around 1280. All that time ago, yet the church still has a serene, mystical, medieval aura. The interior is very big for a small village church. Its most eye-catching feature is the sixteenth-century organ in the middle of the church. The pipes have discoloured a bit through age, but the instrument is still played.
Please note: The church will be closed on the 29th of September until 13.30 due to an organ recording.
Open daily from 10.00-17.00

The Sint-Hippolytuskerk in Middelstum was built in the fifteenth century by a knight called Onno van Ewsum. Colourful paintings of biblical scenes were added on the vaulted ceiling soon afterwards. One of them is of Adam and Eve in Paradise. The beautiful details in the paintings are testimony to the skill of the anonymous artist.
The Church is closed, but there is a key available at the neigbours at the backside of the Church. Telephone number 0595-551324
